Schroder2_inlineBRAINERD, Minn.—Patricia Rose Schroder, a pastor’s wife and church planter, died Aug. 4. She was 83.

Pat earned a BA in Bible from Northwestern Bible College, where she met and, two years later married, John Schroder. She served alongside John as he was a pastor and church planter.

John and Pat were pastor and wife in Myrtle, Minnesota, for a year before beginning their ministry of planting churches in 1957. Under the Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions, they established Faith Baptist Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa; First Baptist Church, Hibbing, Minnesota; Brookdale Baptist Church, Moorhead, Minnesota; Woodland Baptist Church, Fergus Falls, Minnesota; and Heritage Baptist Church, Duluth, Minnesota.

The couple also spent nine summers working at Bass Lake Camp, Winnebago, Minnesota. “Pat led Bible studies with her ‘lake ladies’ until just a year or so ago,” the camp says.

Pat had a passion for teaching ladies’ Bible studies and discipling individuals. At Faith Baptist Church, Brainerd, Minnesota, she taught ladies’ Bible classes, served on the missions committee, and was in charge of hospitality for visiting speakers. She loved entertaining in her home, hiking the forest, skiing, reading, oil painting, and writing. After Regular Baptist Press published some of her writing, she wrote a book called Hidden Riches in Secret Places in 2002.

Pat is survived by her husband of 63 years, John; her children, Tim, Nate, Luke, Titus, and Jewel Nordstrom; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, Aug. 12, at Faith Baptist Church, Brainerd, Minnesota, with public visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m and the funeral at 2:00 p.m.
