Juanita Boylan, Church Organist and Pianist

AMES, Iowa—Juanita Boylan, organist and pianist, died March 20, 2010, at age 87.

Juanita graduated from the University of Kansas in 1944 with a degree in bacteriology. She was employed as a laboratory assistant at Iowa State University from 1948 to 1950. An accomplished organist, Juanita was an active member of Campus Baptist Church, Ames, Iowa, where she played the organ and piano for more than 50 years. At the time of her death, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Cambridge, Iowa.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Hilbert and Mamie Sheridan; one son, Gerald Ray Boylan; and one granddaughter, Amanda Hähnlen.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. David R. Boylan, former dean of the College of Engineering at ISU and senior professor and counselor to the president at Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary; three daughters, Sharon Hähnlen, Elizabeth McKee, and Lisa Powell; and five grandchildren.
