GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J.—Gregory Richard Barny, a pastor, died Oct. 13. He was 66. In spite of his declining health during the last year, by God’s grace he displayed unwavering faith, amazing strength, and great courage.

After 17 years in the publishing business, Greg believed without a doubt he was called to be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He earned a BS in Biblical studies from Baptist Bible College and Seminary in 1989 and an MA in Biblical studies from Bethany Divinity College and Seminary in 1999.

Greg was pastor of First Baptist Church, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, since July 1992 and was a past secretary for the Garden State Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches. He had also been a substitute teacher for Galloway Township Public Schools for the last 11 years and coached student baseball and basketball teams. His love of teaching and mentoring was evident through the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; and a son, Mark.
