George Hanson, Pastor

FERGUS FALLS, Minn.—George Hanson, a retired pastor, died Nov. 22. He was 94.

George graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1948 and Northern Baptist Seminary in 1952. He was ordained to the ministry in 1953.

He was pastor of three churches in Kenosha, East Delavan, and Hartland, Wisconsin, as well as First Baptist Church, Plainfield, Illinois; Blaine Baptist Church, Minneapolis; and Southbrook Baptist Church, Wadena, Minnesota. He retired in 1988.

In addition to ministering as a pastor, George served on the board of Shepherds Ministries for 25 years and was treasurer of the Baptists for Life board for many years. In his younger years he led Awana clubs and children’s singing at Bible camp.

George will be fondly remembered for his sweet smile, quick wit, meaningful prayers, and faithful service at his church, Woodland Baptist in Fergus Falls, including singing duets with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria, after 25 years of marriage; an infant daughter, Sharon; and two daughters, Barbara and Ruth.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, whom he married in 1974, and a son, Paul.
