Frances Nelson, Pastor’s Wife

GREENVILLE, N.C.—Frances Doreen Nelson, a pastor’s wife, died Dec. 18. She was 95.

Fran was born in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada on Oct. 17, 1925. After completing grade 13, she earned an RN degree at The Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing and then a Bachelor of Religious Education at London Bible Institute in Ontario, where she met her husband, Alfred.

Fran actively supported Alf’s pastoral ministries to Michigan churches, including Alaska Baptist Church in Caledonia, Kingsley Baptist Church in Kingsley, and Parr Memorial Baptist Church in Petoskey. Following these ministries, she served alongside Alf as he was state representative of the Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches from 1983 to 1990 and then pastor to seniors at First Baptist Church, St. Johns, Michigan.

Frances’s life was characterized by unswerving faithfulness, service and love for the Lord, and strong commitment to the church communities where she was a member or pastor’s wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Alfred, on April 6, 2007.

She is survived by six children, Judy Barber, Dan, Ron, Steve, Paul, and Susan Page; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
