Connie Jordan, Camp Cook and Pastor’s Wife

RICHFIELD, N.C.—Connie Diane Jordan, 61, died on Jan. 15 after many years of service in and outside the DelMarVa Baptist Fellowship.

Connie accepted Christ as her Savior at age 6. She would later meet and marry Reggie Jordan. At the beginning of 1979, Reggie and Connie Jordan lived in Lakeland, Fla., with their three children while Reggie attended Spurgeon Baptist Bible College. After he graduated in 1984, they returned to Hagerstown, Md., where he became associate pastor of Evangel Baptist Church, serving there until 1991. The Lord then led the Jordans to Alaska, where they served in several transitional works: Maranatha Baptist Church in Anchorage, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Palmer, and Higher Ground Campground in Soldotna.

Before moving to North Carolina, Connie became known for her culinary and hospitality skills, using her kitchen as a ministry base. This ministry led to her become the cook at Camp PaMaDeVa (now Penn Grove Retreat) in the 1980s. She again served in that role from 2003 to 2011 at Camp Tohiglo in Mercersburg, Pa. Most recently, the Jordans ministered to folks in their area of Richfield, N.C., and the truck driving community. She adored her husband, loved her family and people in general, and loved her Savior.

Connie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Reggie; a brother, Dennis Mills; two daughters, Laurie Summers and Regina Jordan; a son, Matthew Jordan; and six grandchildren.
