Celerina Lubaton, Missionary

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Celerina Lubaton, missionary and interim pastor’s wife, died Jan. 25 after suffering a stroke a few weeks earlier. She was 78. Rafael and Celerina Lubaton joined Independent Gospel Missions in 2007 as missionary field coordinators for the Philippines after previously serving with Baptist Church Planters. Rafael is the interim pastor at Grace Community Baptist Church, San Jose, Calif., a Filipino congregation. Born in the Philippines, Celerina lived an amazing life not only as a pastor’s wife and missionary, but also an educator and seminary professor. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rafael, and their daughter, Lillian.
