DES MOINES, Iowa—Virginia Rhodes joined her husband, Everett, in Heaven on Dec. 4. She was 95.

Born during WWI in 1917, Virginia lived a long and gracious life. She survived childhood during the Great Depression, endured WWII as a Navy wife, and raised two daughters during the turbulent 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s as a pastor’s wife in small Iowa towns.

Everett and Virginia served churches in Russell, Carlisle, Madrid, and LeClaire, Iowa, and in Loup City, Neb. She performed each of her roles with grace and charm and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was a favorite among the staff who lovingly cared for her during her last years at Fleur Heights Nursing Home in Des Moines.

Everett preceded her in death in 2007 after 62 years of marriage.

Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Rachel and Marcia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
