STEVENS POINT, Wis.—On Aug. 28, Pastor Earl and Ellie Swigart celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a luncheon on Aug. 30 at Berea Baptist Church, where they have ministered since January 1990. Oct. 4 was their last Sunday at Berea, as the couple is retiring in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
The Swigarts have been in the ministry for 48 years, starting in Norwalk, Iowa, where they established that church after graduating from Omaha Baptist Bible College. From Norwalk, they went to Faith Baptist Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and then back to Norwalk. They spent seven years at Calvary Baptist in Mount Pleasant before moving to Berea. The church had a farewell for the Swigarts on Oct. 4.
