COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Rustic Hills Baptist Church reports that God was very good to the church’s Vacation Bible School for a second year. To advertise the event, the church posted VBS information on the church sign two weeks in advance. Using Polar Extremes curriculum by Regular Baptist Press, the church built, painted, and mounted two eight-foot penguins and one eight-foot polar bear in front of the church. An artist/art teacher in the congregation painted the larger-than-life animals. Inside, the whole church was transformed into a winter wonderland, with “snow” everywhere, a couple of igloos, an Alaskan cruise ship, and a forest of Christmas trees covered in snow. The ladies went all out to make the place “polar.”

An average of 120 kids attended, and workers were privileged to lead 26 kids to professions of faith. Another 40 or so kids made decisions related to the Christian life (baptism, walking closer to the Lord, living all out for God). Wednesday was push day for the gospel, with the entire opening program presenting the plan of salvation. The church is now following up on families who made decisions.

Throughout the week the kids really got into the puppet and “Ben Friesen” skits, along with the various competitions. The closing program on Friday was followed by a BBQ lunch for everyone who wished to stay.
