IA_SinglesCARROLL, Iowa—The weather was ideal for the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches’ third annual Fall Singles’ Outing held at the acreage of Dean and Nancy Rogers just north of Scranton. Close to 50 singles—the largest group yet for this annual event—enjoyed the day’s activities, say Pastor Tim and Sandy Capon of Faith Baptist Church in Carroll, where Dean and Nancy are members.

Afternoon activities included canoeing, fishing, putt-putt golf around the pond, and trap shooting.

“There was a broad spectrum of shooters from experienced to those who had never handled a firearm before,” the Capons say. “It is always a special joy to see the huge grin on the face of a new shooter when he or she breaks their first clay pigeon!”

This year the outing also included archery, which many guests enjoyed. Pastor Steve and Lynn Cox of Clear Lake (Iowa) Regular Baptist Church, both experienced archers, set up the archery range.

After enjoying supper cooked on the grill, everyone gathered around a fire pit for devotions. With a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in hand, they enjoyed this special time in the Word of God with Dustin Larsen, a member of Faith Baptist who challenged everyone in their walk with the Lord.

Some headed home after devotions. Others lingered around the fire and the retreat center, a newly renovated barn, for more fellowship.

The Capons say this annual outing, along with other singles’ events throughout the year, is “intended to provide some fun activities, time to hang out with friends, opportunities to meet new ones, and devotionals that encourage their walk with the Lord. We praise the Lord for all that He provided and accomplished for this outing.”
