Ron Hemsworth Called to Serve at Missionary Acres

Hemsworth_inlineSILVA, Mo.—Ron Hemsworth, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Sauk Centre, Minn., accepted a call to serve at Missionary Acres, a community in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains for those who have retired from Christian service.

Ron’s experience in ministry and secular vocations puts him in the position of being able to greatly assist Missionary Acres. He spent 26 years in the pastorate in Washington, Oregon, and Minnesota and along the way gained valuable skills outside the church walls. He has done work in roofing, construction, maintenance, and repairs, and has been a chaplain with the Sauk Centre Police Department since 2003 and an EMT with the Sauk Centre Ambulance since 2007.

Baptist Mid-Missions, which operates Missionary Acres, says the “small staff is stretched to keep up with managing its office, remodeling and maintaining homes and 115 acres of property, and caring for residents’ needs.”

Ron and Joy Hemsworth are familiar with those needs and concerns, as they have volunteered at Missionary Acres in the past. “Volunteers serve an important role there, and Ron looks forward to coordinating their efforts,” says Baptist Mid-Missions. “The Hemsworths can bring enriching care to Acres’ residents.”

Explaining his new position, Ron says, “Part of the time, we will also be traveling representatives, recruiting volunteers, connecting with potential residents, and sharing the ministry of Missionary Acres.”

The Hemsworths’ last Sunday at Faith Baptist Church will be Nov. 30. His successor has already been named: Joseph DiVietro, pastor of First Baptist Church, Wilson, Kansas, will begin pastoring Faith Baptist on Dec. 7. “God’s timing is perfect,” Ron says.
