HILLSBORO, Ind.—Over 120 middle and high school students from around Indiana gathered at Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center for one of several weekends of Winter Camp. Director Jon Beight challenged the group to walk in the Light, as he spoke from 1 John 1 and 2. While there wasn’t a lot of snow on the ground, the crisp winter weather was the perfect setting for roasting marshmallows at an outdoor fire, hot chocolate, capture the flag in the woods, indoor games, and lots of laughs.

The HeartSong “Orange” team from Cedarville University lead in deep worship throughout the weekend and jumped in to all the fun and games. The team’s new freshman guitar player is Connor Haskins, son of former Regular Baptist Press Director Kevin Haskins.

The weekend ended with a powerful prayer service as each youth group met separately to pray for their church family at home. The LightSource youth group from First Baptist Church, Princeton, Ind., then split up into twos and threes to pray and share decisions they made.

Mark Massaro, pastor of children and student ministries at First Baptist makes Winter Camp a priority on the event calendar every year. He says, “Coming from the southwest corner of Indiana, we probably travel farthest for camp and other events, but the opportunity for our students to get together with other believers of like faith is invaluable. The several-hour bus ride becomes part of the event, as students and leaders are ‘compelled’ by close quarters to talk and get to know each other better.”
