PELLA, Iowa—A group of teens and adults from Berean Baptist Church, Pella, Iowa traveled to Benningon, Neb. on August 10-12 for a weekend missions trip.

Accompanied by Jerry & Carla Lockridge, Ed & Cindy DeKock, Shawnae Lambert, and Meredith DeKock, the teens assembled welcome packets and visited neighborhood homes in preparation for a Sunday event they held at a local park. The outdoor service event featured refreshments, games, music, skits, and a sermon by senior Tyler Terlouw.

“It was a great experience for the students,” said Meredith DeKock, who returned from her job in Schaumburg, Ill., to help lead the weekend trip. “For some it confirmed a desire to go into missions. For others, they learned that door-to-door visitation is not that scary.”

Located seventeen miles northwest of Omaha, the Bennington church started as a series of Bible studies in 2004, led by Pastor Peter Jenks, regional field director for Baptist Church Planters. Eric and Amy Wilmeth work as associate church planters, part of an internship program with BCP.
