MilesGrismore1MASON CITY, Iowa—On the evening of Dec. 23, Faith Baptist Church said good-bye to its pastor of 25 years.

Faith Baptist Church was only seven years old when Pastor Miles and Mary Grismore began their ministry on Jan. 15, 1989. Miles accepted the reins from Jerry Johnson, missionary pastor since the church’s inception, when the church became self-supporting. What followed was a testimony to the faithfulness and goodness of God.

With the Grismores in leadership, Faith Baptist grew spiritually as well as numerically. Two building projects were needed to increase space for the congregation. People were introduced to the gospel, saved, baptized, and added to the church. Several associate pastors had the opportunity to serve alongside and learn from Pastor Grismore. And his faithful preaching of God’s Word along with his commitment to the gospel can be seen in the church today and in those who have grown up and moved away.

MilesGrismore2At the farewell service, numerous people shared testimonies, several individuals performed special music, and Mary was asked to lead the Kids of Faith children’s choir one last time. Dave Callison, associate pastor from 1990 to 2001 (he is now assistant director of Iowa Regular Baptist Camp, Ventura, Iowa), challenged the Grismores to continue faithfully serving God wherever He leads them and challenged Faith Baptist to do the same.

The church family generously gave the Grismores several gifts in appreciation of their ministry. Following the service, individuals had the opportunity to personally thank the couple during a reception.

Now in retirement, Miles and Mary Grismore have moved to Ankeny, Iowa. Miles will continue to fill pulpits and work on an interim basis as the needs arise.
