Retreat 2The Stoney Creek Lodge in Des Moines, Iowa, was the site for the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches statewide annual Mid-Winter Couple’s Retreat. The retreat, hosted by First Baptist Church, Creston, Iowa, was started by Pastor David Hubble, then pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Oelwein, Iowa.

Retreat 3Nearly 160 men and women attended this year’s event. Rev. Dan Dark, from Faith Baptist Bible College, spoke on 1 Corinthians 13. One of the unique features of this year’s retreat was the ministry of the Gates family. Their three girls, Angela, Alyson, and Anna Jean provided a variety of sacred and secular vocal and violin music selections. As one of the continuing traditions of the retreat, various door prizes, including payment of one couple’s room expenses, were awarded.

Retreat 3Dr. Steve Reeves serves as the chairman of a task force of four couples that plan and promote the retreat has. Along with his wife, Lynn, he has provided leadership for the retreat for the past six years.

Next year’s retreat is scheduled for February 8 and 9. Pastor “Duke” Crawford from Calvary Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, will speak. The site for the retreat will again be the Stoney Creek Lodge.
