Grace Baptist Church participates in Laurel parade

LAUREL, Md.—Grace Baptist Church was involved again this year in the city’s festival, in which an estimated 350 venders participate and thousands of people visit from around the area. Grace Baptist gets involved so people can become aware of the church and so the people of Grace can share Christ. A local newspaper estimated more than 100,000 people attended the weekend celebration at the town located about 25 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.

Getting ready for the event is fun but a lot of work. This year the church had 40–50 of its people involved. T-shirts that promote the church were ordered in advance. This year they read, “Welcome to Grace.” Tractors with the church website and a large float advertised the church as they were driven down Main Street. Flyers, tracts, and other information about the church were handed out. And a booth was set up for distributing free items.

Pastor Mike Hammons, a graduate of Baptist Bible Seminary, has been at the church since 2008.
