SEBRING, Fla.—The folks of Maranatha Baptist Church and Maranatha Manor are rejoicing in God’s provision. A ground-breaking ceremony kicked off the addition of a kitchen and dining area at the Manor.

This is “a vision long dreamed of and provided for by the generosity of God’s children,” says Betty Hendsbee.

The vision has been made possible through the gifts of Roscoe Williams, a former Manor resident who saw the great need, and Jeannie Heyburn, a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church who loved the Lord and His work.

Maranatha Manor is the assisted-living facility of Maranatha Village, a Christian retirement community, and is operated by Maranatha Baptist Church. Betty describes the Manor as providing “physical nourishment as well spiritual refreshment and safety.”

Many residents and nonresidents of Maranatha Village worship on Sundays and Wednesdays at Maranatha Baptist Church, located within the Village. In 2013 Maranatha Village celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Twenty people live at Maranatha Manor. The facility’s faithful cook has provided meals for as many as 60 people on special occasions from the small kitchen, and serves them in the crowded dining area. And twice a week the Manor is open to the residents of Maranatha Village so they can enjoy a cup of good coffee and sweet fellowship at the “Sweet Spot.”

Helping Pastor Gerald Webber break ground Jan. 11 were Amy VanKleeck, administrator of Maranatha Manor; Jim Hawkins, lead builder; and Dawn Balsamo, contractor for Delta Sebring, Inc.
