DES MOINES, Iowa—Pastor Robert and Ronette Smith celebrated 10 years of ministry at Grandview Park Baptist Church. The deacons expressed their personal appreciation during a morning worship service, presenting gift certificates for a mall and a restaurant. The congregation expressed their appreciation on a separate Sunday. During a morning service, the Smiths received funds to support extra time away as the congregation’s way of thanking them for their love for the Lord, their love for the people, and their leadership. Times of fellowship followed the evening services on both Sundays.

Grandview Park has existed as a Baptist church in Des Moines for 75 years, being affiliated with the GARBC since 1942. Building projects over the years have transformed Grandview Park Baptist from a one-room hut just north of the Iowa State Fairgrounds to its current church building that houses Grandview Park Baptist School for preschool through 12th grade.

After having served three churches in Michigan, Robert and Ronette, along with their two children, Lauren and Colin, moved to Des Moines in August 1999.
