INDIANAPOLIS— Heather Hills Baptist Church has hosted their sixth annual Family Fun Fest, an event intended to communicate the love of Jesus Christ to the families living on the east side of Indianapolis by facilitating a fun and free interaction between church and community.

Prior to the event, the church prepared with six weeks of organizational prayer meetings and distributed event flyers to more than 3,000 households. The event included a 5K run, carnival games, inflatable slides and obstacle courses, face painting, and a free lunch. Community organizations such as the fire department and the Indianapolis bomb squad also participated.

Spiritual emphasis for the event came through the hosting of a prayer tent, Bible story tent for children, a sacred concert by Heather Hills’ worship leader Jason Patchett, and the tie-in of a “Back-to-School Sunday” the following day where returning guests were given packs of school supplies.

More than 600 attended the event, with 80 vistors returning for the special Sunday service. The church is now following up with 130 families who attended the two events. One of the immediate results of the Fun Fest this year was the starting of a Spanish adult Bible fellowship class, furthering the church’s desire to reach all the people and language groups in their neighborhood.

Now, we have much work to do!”

The church is holding an installation service for Pastor McCrorie on Sunday, Sept. 7. The photo above shows Christina McCrorie, Deborah McCrorie, Kayla McCrorie, Jenny Johnson, Pastor McCrorie, and Tony Johnson. The Johnsons have recently joined Heather Hills Baptist.
