Dr. Richard Piatt II speaks at Haiti Bible Institute’s graduation ceremony
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti—Seventeen students have graduated from Haiti Bible Institute, receiving associates degree in Biblical studies. Haiti Bible Institute was established in 2009 under On Target Ministry to teach pastors in Haiti how to reach others in their country for Christ. The school meets in a guesthouse that GARBC International Ministries originally used to accommodate ministry crews from GARBC churches who were providing construction help after the 2010 earthquake.

“During the past four years, these men worked hard,” says Dr. Bearss, founder and president of On Target Ministry. “They studied, memorized, and applied God’s Word in their lives and ministries. They saw first-hand how living by the Book results in fruitful endeavors for the cause of Christ and spiritual growth in the servants of Christ.”
Dr. Bearss opened the ceremony and then turned the platform over to Dr. Richard Piatt II, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, Lakeland, Fla., who addressed the school’s first graduating class of students. Dr. James Maxwell, president of Faith Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Ankeny, Iowa, was the keynote speaker. He challenged the graduates to be “vessels unto honor” for the glory of God.
Dr. Bearss is an instructor at Moody Bible Institute and a professor at Trinity Theological Seminary. He has also been pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Seeley, Wis.; First Baptist Church, Chesterton, Ind.; and Grace Bible Church, Meeker, Colo.; and itinerant Bible teacher at Ripon Baptist Church, Ripon, Wis.
He says, “Watching our 17 graduates receive their degrees in Biblical Studies was both moving and satisfying. By simply obeying 2 Timothy 2:2 we were able to train these pastors at the Haiti Bible Institute and prepare them for greater service unto the Lord. Truly, it was a God-glorifying day.”
The next group of pastors, he says, are ready to begin their training in March 2013.
