John-Greening-GradCLARKS SUMMIT, Pa.—John R. Greening, national representative of the GARBC, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a DMin May 10 from Baptist Bible Seminary.

The title of Dr. Greening’s dissertation was “A Local Church Blueprint for Spiritual Maturity.” Dr. Greening has also earned a BRE from Baptist Bible College and an MRE from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

He is the author of A Man and His Ethics, Real Men Are Godly, Real Men Overcome, Blueprint for Spiritual Maturity, and The Worst Christmas Tree, and is a contributing writer in The Pastor: A Guide for God’s Faithful Servant.

Among the 240 graduates was Jack Austin, pastor of church education at Calvary Baptist Church, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., who graduated with an MMin. John and Jack served together on the pastoral staff of Summit Baptist Bible Church in Clarks Summit early in their ministry careers.

As chairman of BBC&S’s board of trustees, Greening gave the invocation. President Jim Jeffery, the featured speaker, encouraged those earning diplomas to “maximize your impact.” He challenged graduates to follow the footprints of the prophet Isaiah. The message wrapped together his series on Isaiah preached in weekly chapels over the course of the academic year.

This year’s commencement marks 82 years of graduates in the school’s history. Diplomas were presented for the first time in the school’s new Recreation Center. Family and friends filled the multipurpose facility, with the event simulcast to the nearby Phelps Student Center and streamed live worldwide.
