Clarks Summit, Pa.—A free class for first-time seminary students will be offered Jan. 5–8 at Baptist Bible Seminary. Seminary dean Dr. Mike Stallard will teach the four-day course, “Spotlight on Issues in Theology: Spiritual Formation.” The course will highlight the current debate in the culture on the nature of spirituality and how to obtain it. The course is described as ideal for pastors, missionaries, and others engaged in full-time professional ministry. It will also be valuable to potential Master of Divinity students or others considering an advanced degree.
Registration is now open. Students who are not first-time students may take the one-credit class for regular paid credit. There is no tuition to audit the class. Books, class notes, and meals are the responsibility of the student. Limited housing at $10 a night is available for those taking the course. BBS is also offering two of its popular Preview Weekends Feb. 5 and 6 and April 16 and 17. These focused weekends enable future students to learn what seminary is all about and how BBS can fit into their plans. A $500 scholarship will be applied to the first semester of full-time study for Master of Divinity students attending a Preview Weekend. The April weekend runs during BBC&S’s annual Church Ministries Conference, a successful time of training and building for church lay leaders and pastors. All Preview Weekends feature campus and local area tours, classroom observation, seminary chapel, lunch with Dr. Stallard, and visits with Admissions and Financial Aid representatives. Powerful Seminary scholarships are available to students and substantially cut the cost of earning a degree. Additionally, a unique Training Timothy Scholarship provides matching funds for up to $12,000 toward a Seminary degree.
