Duffy-family_INYARMOUTH, Iowa—First Baptist Church has installed Jeff Duffy as pastor.

Dr. Dan McClure, chairman of the pastoral search committee, welcomed the congregation to the installation service on Sunday, Oct. 6. Pastor Duffy introduced his family and other special guests in attendance, including his dad, Ray, who closed in prayer for his son.

Jeff and his wife, Sherrill, have been married for 27 years and have six children. Jeff previously served at Indianola (Iowa) Regular Baptist Church as youth pastor; Fellowship Baptist Church, Des Moines, Iowa, as associate pastor; and Rapids Street Baptist Church, Adel, Iowa, as pastor.

On behalf of the Southeast Iowa Pastors’ Fellowship, Matt Reno, youth pastor at Calvary Baptist in Mount Pleasant, welcomed Pastor Duffy and his family to the area and to the fellowship. The fellowship was rejoicing, he said, that God had answered their prayers about the furtherance of the gospel in Yarmouth.

Dr. McClure read a letter of congratulations to Pastor Duffy and the church from Joe Hayes, state representative of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches. Pastor Troy Weigert of Blair Ridge Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids gave the charge to Pastor Duffy. Pastor Jack Jackson of People’s Church in Batavia reminded the congregation of their obligations to Pastor Duffy, challenging them from Hebrews 13:17 to “obey your leaders and submit to their authority. . . . Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden.”

The congregation affirmed that they are willing to fulfill their responsibilities to support and pray for their new pastor.

Jeff and Sherrill Duffy are looking forward to serving the Lord in Yarmouth and are excited about joining the team God has put there.
