Fall Festival Entertains, Excites, Amazes, and Evangelizes

AMES, Iowa—Campus Baptist Church hosted a Family Fall Fest for fellowship and outreach. In a campus town—Ames is the home of Iowa State University of Science and Technology—it makes sense to have some fun science. So along with inflatables, games, crafts, and face painting, the festival included hands-on experiments and concluded with a chemistry show. Campus Baptist is located on the edge of Ames, a perfect location for taking hayrides. Other traditional fall events were a chili cook-off and a pie-baking contest. Visitors got to sample the chili and pies, as well as enjoy hot dogs, cookies, and lemonade. A popular attraction was the dunking booth, where the church’s Awana children who had brought a friend to Awana could try to dunk their leaders. To end the evening, Dr. Jason Poock (pronounced like “poke”), one of Campus Baptist’s members and a chemistry professor, amazed and excited with a chemistry show for children and their parents. Dr. Poock used foaming beakers and explosions to present the gospel.
