Former Faith Baptist members now in ministry: Mickey Farlow, Dale Stover, Tom Farlow, Jerry Taylor, and Dave Callison.

CAMP POINT, Ill.“Holding Fast the Faithful Word” was the theme for the 50th anniversary at Faith Baptist Church.

The Homecoming Weekend began with a fellowship reception on Saturday evening. Those who attended enjoyed sharing memories and looking at hundreds of photos. On Sunday, three men who grew up attending Faith Baptist Church and went on to full-time Christian service shared testimonies in the Sunday School hour: Tom Farlow, a missionary with Baptist Church Planters; Dave Callison, assistant director of Iowa Regular Baptist Camp; and Dale Stover of Bill Rice Ranch. Pastor Tom Robbins preached from Titus 1:9 on “The Faithful Word” during the morning service.

After a fellowship dinner, the church celebrated the past, present, and future ministries of Faith Baptist Church with an anniversary service, featuring an alumni choir, slideshow, and testimonies from two more former members now in full-time Christian service—Mickey Farlow, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Quincy, Ill., and Jerry Taylor, pastor of First Baptist Church, Plymouth, Ill.

Faith Baptist Church holds its first service on Dec. 2, 1962, in the Camp Point Community Building.

“The history of Faith Baptist Church is a testimony of God’s grace and leading,” says Pastor Robbins, pastor of the church since June 1991. Faith Baptist held its first service on Dec. 2, 1962, meeting initially in the Camp Point Community Building. The church was formally organized in February 1964 with 37 charter members. In May 1965 the congregation moved from the Camp Point Community Building to a new church building two miles east of Camp Point.

Pastor Robbins says, “God has certainly blessed the congregation of Faith Baptist Church so that today a faithful, loving church family continues to worship, fellowship, serve, and grow together.”
