On Tuesday, Faith Baptist Bible College & Theological Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa, officially announced that Dr. James Maxwell III will become the school’s ninth president beginning July 1.
Dr. Maxwell, who serves on the GARBC Council of Eighteen, replaces acting president Dr. John Hartog III. Dr. Maxwell is currently senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, where he has ministered since 1977. He has also served in pastoral positions in Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan. Dr. Maxwell and his wife, Leslie, have been married for 41 years. They began their full-time ministry only two months after they were married in 1965.
Dr. Maxwell, a 1964 alumnus of Faith’s theology program, serves on the Board of Directors for both FBBC & TS and Men for Christ. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
James and Leslie have four grown children: Christine, James IV, Renee, and Paul; and they have 11 grandchildren. Dr. Maxwell enjoys sailing on Lake Michigan in his 23-foot sailboat; Leslie owns three horses and enjoys horseback riding.
Dr. Maxwell and Leslie currently live in Hartland, Wisconsin. An installation service for Dr. Maxwell is scheduled for May 3.
