LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo.—The Mid-Continent Association of Regular Baptist Churches held its semiannual Spring 2013 Conference at Faith Baptist Church April 8 and 9.

Keynote speaker was Dr. Jim Newcomer, associate pastor of Colonial Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, Va., and professor of pastoral theology at Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Virginia Beach. Dr. Newcomer preached on topics relating to the theme “Pastoral First Aid.” He talked about the certainty of ministerial trials, the reality of criticism in pastoral ministry, and cautions that pastors should heed regarding ministerial criticism.

Also featured were Pastor Bruce Anderson of Olivet Baptist Church, Westwood, Kan.; Pastor Joe DiVietro of First Baptist Church, Wilson, Kan.; and Pastor Nathan Gast of Fair Haven Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kan. These pastors—members of the regional association’s Council of Six—preached on additional aspects of the conference theme, including dealing with depression and burnout, charges of pastoral laziness, and personal hurts brought on by church members.

Audio and video of all the conference sessions are available at www.mcarbc.org.
