Beverly Ann Johnson

Beverly Ann Johnson went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2009, after a battle with cancer. Beverly’s husband, Richard, serves as the chaplain of Friendship Village in Waterloo, Iowa.

Richard and Beverly Johnson ministered as pastor and wife of churches in New Hartford, Waukon, and Tipton, Iowa; Kasson, Minn.; and Lincoln, Neb.

Beverly Ann Johnson was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Hawley Elon Collins and Mary Ann Tyrrell Collins. Pastor and Mrs. Johnson were married on July 31, 1954, at Grandview Park Baptist Church in Des Moines. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines, then attended Omaha Baptist Bible Institute and graduated from Grand Rapids Bible Institute in 1958 with a Bible certificate.

Beverly was a kind and loving daughter, wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, partner in ministry, and friend who was always available to listen. She had a sweet spirit and a smile for everyone. Through the years she taught Bible and missionary stories in children’s clubs and VBS, enjoyed puppet ministry, and sang in the choir.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter and son-in-law Mary Grace and Barry Mowry of Sherwood, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law Sara and Lonnie Ostransky of Perry Iowa; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; two half-sisters; and a half-brother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother.
