Two Tragedies, Two Opportunities to Help

Heartrending imagery from storms replays in our minds as we think about two regions of the world that are torn apart. After a damaging earthquake and a Category 5 typhoon hit the Philippines, tornadoes carved a wide path of destruction in the Midwestern United States. These natural disasters have left thousands of people helplessly standing by the rubble of their homes, schools, businesses, and churches.

BogoCebuSome people cry, “Where is God in all of this?” But we see God’s hand working in these communities in powerful ways. Believers are fulfilling their roles as part of the Body of Christ by using their time and resources to help and comfort. Within our association, the power of networking and uniting is evident in two disaster relief programs.

GARBC International Ministries is rallying around its ministry partners in the Philippines. When disasters such as Super Typhoon Yolanda hit, the International Emergency Relief Fund is ready to accept donations to help rebuild churches, parsonages, and schools. Find out more about the significant needs of this ravaged community.

Baptist Builders Club is coming alongside churches affected by the tornadoes in the United States through its Disaster Relief program. Churches are ministering to their hurting members and ministering to their communities—spiritually as they search for answers, and physically as they work to rebuild. Find out more about the Disaster Relief program, which is the focus of Baptist Builders Club’s Christmas Giving Project.

You can help by donating to the International Emergency Relief Fund and/or to the Baptist Builders Club Disaster Relief program.
