Evelyn Crown, Pastor’s Wife

JOHNSTON, Iowa—Evelyn Rose Crown, a former pastor’s wife, died on Dec. 28 at Mercy Hospice as a result of a fall. She was 92. Evelyn was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Sparta, Mich. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1939 and then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. On Nov. 1, 1942, she married Francis Austin Crown. The Lord led them into pastoral ministry together and allowed them to serve churches in Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, and Washington. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 20, 2010. She is survived by her children, Barbara Haley, Timothy, Karen Houghton, David, Pamela Schmerse, and Becky, as well as 14 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Jan. 2 at Ankeny (Iowa) Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service will be held Jan. 3 at Ankeny Baptist Church with interment at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to Faith Baptist Bible College, Ankeny, Iowa.
