Women’s Retreat Teaches Bible Study Skills

VENTURA, Iowa—The Renew Women’s Conference, an event of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches, was a time of relaxation and refocusing for the ladies who attended. Iowa Regular Baptist Camp hosted the overnight retreat Sept. 11–12.

Main sessions on personal Bible study provided times for women to be encouraged in their daily walk with God. Andy Stearns, a professor at Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, led the three main sessions, with the women either attending in the chapel or viewing the livestream from a different location at the camp. From Stearns’s teaching, the women learned how to make careful observations while reading Scripture, interpret the Bible the right way, and apply Biblical truth to their lives.

Four smaller breakout sessions taught skills for women’s ministry with a focus on Biblical counseling. Among those leading the breakout sessions were Ellen Moore, pastor’s wife at Horton Baptist Church, Waverly, Iowa.

Throughout the retreat, ladies reconnected with friends and built new relationships with fellow sisters in Christ.

The camp also hosted the IARBC’s Men’s Revive Conference Aug. 28–29, with Jon Jenks, president of Baptist Church Planters, speaking on qualities of a healthy and thriving church. (Last spring Jon was a guest speaker on the Baptist Bulletin Podcast. Listen to that episode, “The Essence of True Worship,” at garbc.org.)

The IARBC thanks Iowa Regular Baptist Camp “for working through all the logistics to safely allow us to move forward with the retreats.”
