SLATER, Iowa—Slater Baptist Church celebrated its 50th anniversary Sunday, June 9. Chris Hindal, director of Regular Baptist International, spoke during the morning worship service. He was pastor of the church from 1985 to 1994.

After the worship service, the congregation and guests enjoyed lunch outside, former pastors and interim pastors shared their memories of serving at the church, and a southern gospel quartet called Four His Glory presented a concert.

The theme for the day was “Celebrating God’s Faithfulness, Trusting God’s Promises.” The church says that God’s faithfulness has been evident in the five decades since eight people established Slater Baptist Church. “Most of the outreach programs established then are still active,” the church says, with the congregation still supporting missionaries, young people still professing Christ as Savior through the church’s ministries, and children in Slater and surrounding communities still learning about God through Vacation Bible School.

Last year Slater Baptist Church called Jeriah Shank to be its pastor. “The Lord is good,” the church says. “Now we trust God’s promises as, with Pastor Shank as our shepherd, we look ahead to worship and ministry.”
