SCHAUMBURG, Ill.—The GARBC has formally closed on the sale of its Schaumburg Resource Center, as well as on the purchase of a new facility located in nearby Arlington Heights.
The GARBC’s intent to sell its current building was announced in the summer of 2013. (Read “GARBC to Sell Meacham Property, Relocate Nearby” from the September/October 2013 Baptist Bulletin.) “It has been a lengthy process,” says John Greening, GARBC national representative. “Negotiations moved forward sometimes at a snail’s pace. Getting the right offer as well as finding a new facility that met our requirements took an extended time and required thoughtful consideration. We are excited about our move. Our new location should provide a pleasant and creative environment for the staff, allowing us to better serve our fellowshipping churches, ministry partners, and customers.”
Michael Nolan, the GARBC’s CFO/treasurer, has been working through the closing details of both the sell and the purchase. Now focus is shifting to light retrofitting of the new property and planning the move so as to minimize the amount of disruption to daily operations. “There is an abundance of details,” Nolan says, “but we have been working both internally and externally for months now to make for as smooth of a transition as possible. The movers are coming on a Saturday to keep service interruptions to a minimum. In the meantime, our team at the resource center is working hard getting things prepped and ready as we rapidly approach our moving day.”
Moving to the new building is scheduled to take place the end of April.
