Chaplan1_inlineSEBRING, Fla.—Family and friends of Joseph and Lucy Chapman helped the couple celebrate 70 years of marriage. They have lived at Maranatha Village in Sebring for 28 years.

Joseph was going on 21, and Lucy nearing 20, when they married on Aug. 10, 1946. He was a longtime pastor in Ohio, serving churches in Akron, Gallipolis, Rodney, and Springfield. They also ministered in churches in Danbury, Connecticut; Cortland, New York; and Bridgeton, New Jersey. The Chapmans had quite a music ministry through the years, with both of them singing and with him playing the piano, trombone, baritone, cowbells, and more.

The couple has four children: Judy (Bill) Kirtland; Shirley (Tom) Kurz; Pastor David (Linda) Chapman of Nottingham Baptist Church, Willoughby Hills, Ohio; and Diana Conrad, wife of Pastor David Conrad of Calvary Baptist Church, Xenia, Ohio. The elder Chapmans also have 17 grandchildren and 39 (soon to be 40) great-grandchildren.
