ANKENY, Iowa—Faith Baptist Bible College hosted its annual Refresh Conference for Christian leaders and their spouses Jan. 30–Feb. 2. Guests came ready to be refreshed in the Word of God as speakers addressed the theme “Down but Not Out: Ministering with Disappointment.”

“I think everyone in ministry has had to minister through disappointment—whether that was a health issue, family issue, difficult church member, not able to keep up to everyone’s demands, or finding out some do not love you like you thought they did,” says Dr. Jim Tillotson, president of Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary. He hoped the conference would “be an oasis in the often frantic pace of ministry life.”

Conference guests—who had come from 21 states and 5 countries—enjoyed the preaching of Tillotson; Dr. Gary Anderson, president emeritus of Baptist Mid-Missions; Jason LaFlamme, pastor of Munising (Michigan) Baptist Church; Dr. Doug McLachlan, chancellor and professor of pastoral theology at Central Baptist Theological Seminary; Patrick Odle, pastor of First Baptist Church, Elyria, Ohio; Dr. Les Ollila, president of Building Great Leaders; Dr. William Senn III, pastor of Tri-City Baptist Church, Westminster, Colorado; and Dr. Dean Taylor, chair of the Ministries Division and the Pastoral Training Program at Faith Baptist Bible College.

“The Refresh Conference has become a highlight of the year for my wife and me,” one attendee says. “I think this one was the best yet! I really appreciated all the speakers.”

Faith Baptist Bible College looks forward to seeing how God will bless next year’s Refresh Conference, to be held Jan. 29–Feb. 1.
