McCALL, Idaho—At the end of January, pastors from the Baptist Network Northwest drove to the mountain retreat city of McCall, Idaho, where Camp Pinewood awaited them. McCall is a popular winter destination, famous for its Winter Festival, featuring ice sculptures and the scenic beauty of Payette Lake surrounded in snow.

The pastors would be attending the 10th Annual Pastors’ Prayer Summit: three days set aside to renew their hearts in Scripture-guided, Spirit-led worship and prayer, explains Tim Baker, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, Salem, Oregon.

Justin Howe, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Burlington, Washington, says, “Setting aside that time to spend on diligently being in the presence of God through praying Scripture provided refreshment for my soul and a needed pause from the grind of the day to day. I also found clarity and new insight on some struggles I’ve been wrestling with. Having all those men gather around me to lay hands on me and to pray over me was profoundly uplifting which inspired a deeper confidence in God.”

Thirty men gathered for this year’s summit, including both new and returning attendees. Andrew Schopf, pastor of First Baptist Church, Soap Lake, Washington, was among the new participants. “This was actually the first time that I have been to a prayer summit,” he says. “I appreciated the emphasis around Scripture and prayer. It was a blessing.”

After 10 years of offering pastors prayer retreats, BNN will offer two retreats next year—one in the Seattle area at Camp Gilead and a second at Camp Pinewood.
