CHANDLER, Ariz.—Tri-City Baptist Church hosted a one-day conference for Hispanic ministry leaders. Billed as the Hispanic Think Tank, the conference normally takes place in Greenville, S.C. The Feb. 10 conference was the first to be held in the West.

The National Conference on Hispanic Outreach (aka Hispanic Think Tank) was started by Herb Taylor, coordinator of Hispanic Ministries with Baptist Church Planters. The conference has grown and is now led by committee members from several mission agencies.

This month’s event encouraged ministry leaders, who shared ideas and resources, discussed current issues, received free materials, and were trained through their choice of two workshops, in addition to the main sessions and a women’s session. Workshop choices included “The Evangelistic Church,” “Advantages and Challenges of a Bilingual Church,” “Two Worlds, One Gospel,” “The Church and Immigration,” “The Need for Ministry Connections,” and “Introduction to Expository Preaching.” The entire conference was held in both English and Spanish.

“It was a big blessing,” wrote one of the conference attendees. “Thank you to the committee for making it possible. Thank you to all the attendees for the warm fellowship.” Herb Taylor’s wife, Wanda, says the conference “enhances the quality of each ministry and increases our ability to better serve the Lord together.”

The Hispanic Think Tank hopes to expand, providing this opportunity throughout the U.S. The fourth Hispanic Think Tank will be held in Greenville this coming October. Visit reachinghispanics.org for more information.
