ElyriaOH_inline ELYRIA, Ohio—Abbe Road Baptist Church has a lot to celebrate: a new pastor, a smooth transition, four new believers in recent weeks, and its upcoming 50th anniversary.

After being without a pastor for over 18 months, Abbe Road Baptist Church called Cal Searles. He and his wife, Debbie, began their ministry there in July. On Sept. 7 the church celebrated with an installation service. Dr. Wesley Rowe of Cedarville University gave a charge to Searles and one to the church family. He challenged Searles to embrace his God-given calling, to preach the Word, and to preach with a constant awareness of eternity. Rowe then challenged the church family to follow their God-given leaders and to work alongside them. The church family is greatly rejoicing in God’s leading of Pastor Cal and Debbie Searles to Abbe Road Baptist Church.

On Sept. 6 the ladies held a welcome reception and surprise shower for Debbie. The women are thankful for her love for them and the church’s ministry. They are, they say, excited to work with her.

The church is praising God for the smooth transition, and especially wants to thank Him for “working in our midst,” as “four precious souls” received Christ as Savior in the last few weeks. The church is also excited to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Oct. 5 and is giving God all the glory.
