Church’s ENGAGE Conference Invests in Teachers

BATAVIA, N.Y.—Grace Baptist Church showed its profound gratitude for its teachers and ministry leaders by organizing an ENGAGE Teacher Training Conference. “The church recognizes volunteer teachers and leaders as being essential for helping people become better followers of Jesus Christ,” says Associate Pastor Jeff Bartz. “Since the teachers and leaders do so much to invest in others, Grace Baptist devotes a special time to investing in them.”

The church’s pastoral staff hosts this Saturday morning conference each year, bringing in the best trainers in the fields of teaching adults, teens, and children. A catered lunch ends the event.

This year Bartz shared an opening challenge, while Pastor Don Shirk wrapped up the training time with an encouraging devotional. John Greening, national representative of Regular Baptist Churches, taught teachers of adults; Rod and Jamie Whitney, missionaries whose passion is to reach students with the gospel, taught teachers of youth; and Daria Greening, executive assistant to her husband, John Greening, and a former teacher, taught teachers of children. The event focused on the theme “Superhero,” because, Bartz says, “teachers and ministry leaders [are] serving on the front lines of influence, shaping the culture of the church in ways that help people flourish spiritually.”
