STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The Portage County, Wisconsin, Sheriff’s Office is thanking Berea Baptist Church for its thoughtfulness and generosity.

Three ladies from the church sewed more than 100 cloth masks for the sheriff’s office staff. The ladies—Gina Buhrow, Nancy Hocking, and Amanda Mayer—created the masks using fabric donated by a local craft and fabric store, matching the fabric to the officers’ uniforms. The ladies also embroidered the officers’ call numbers on the masks.

“It was a pleasure to be able to do something useful for the people who protect us,” Nancy says.

The sheriff’s office extends “a heartfelt thank you” to Berea Baptist Church for recognizing the need for “first responders to protect themselves while performing their duties.”
