Church Loves Its Neighbors by Distributing Food

ST. JOHNS, Mich.—As COVID-19 continues to disrupt everyday life, First Baptist Church is loving and serving its neighbors who have limited resources. On the evening of March 17, First Baptist distributed 76 boxes of food in a drive-through fashion at the church’s Beacon of Hope Family Care Center.

“God provided just the right amount” of food, says Pastor Chad Konieczny. “Even though we couldn’t interact much on a personal level, we still wanted people to know they are loved.”

First Baptist says that its Beacon of Hope Family Care Center isn’t normally the “get and go” type of food pantry ministry. Rather, the center focuses on the concept of “come and grow,” with participants’ spiritual needs being met along with material needs.

Though First Baptist has canceled all of its worship services and ministries until further notice, its Beacon of Hope Family Care Center remains open, with extra food being given to families whose children are home from school.

“In difficult times, we are thankful for the opportunity to love people in their time of need and help meet their physical and spiritual needs,” Chad says.
