CANNON BEACH, Ore.—”A day at the beach” takes on special meaning as the Baptist Network Northwest gathers at Cannon Beach, Oregon. Pastors and wives of the Baptist Network Northwest thoroughly enjoy this annual retreat in the beautiful oceanfront setting, held this year on Sept. 12–15.

BNN Executive Director Dave Lunsford and his wife, Sue, warmly welcomed guests as they arrived on Monday. At the beginning of the evening session, laughter rippled through the group as attendees introduced themselves and shared one remarkable thing about their personal lives or ministries.

Dr. Bruce Fong, dean and professor of pastoral studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, spoke Monday evening, challenging attendees to rid themselves of five characteristics from 1 Peter 2:1–3 that have no place in interpersonal relationships. Dr. Fong crafted his message to especially encourage and challenge those in ministry.canonbeach_inline

Earlier in the day, GARBC National Representative John Greening met with the BNN Council of Fifteen for a Q & A time. Face-to-face communication helped build bridges of understanding and renew friendships. At the conclusion of the positive time of interaction, Greening distributed copies of Strong Church, published by Regular Baptist Press, which helps pastors in building their people to become spiritually strong.
