Round-Up Sunday in Byron, Mich.
Byron, Mich.—Byron Baptist Church dates back to the late 1800s, and for decades the congregation has celebrated Round-Up Sunday as an opportunity to regather “delinquent” members and friends of the church.
In the early years people would come to church via horse and buggy. Chris and Deb Hindal of GARBC International Ministries were part of Round-Up Sunday this year. Chris preached in the morning service, followed by a presentation of the GARBC International Ministries during the Sunday School hour. They also joined in a potluck dinner and old-time games such as sack races, bobbing for apples, water balloon toss, and stilt walking. Freshly made apple cider pressed on the grounds made a delightful drink for the afternoon activities. Tom Cooper has been shepherding the flock for the past eight years. The following day, the congregation hosted the Eastern Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches annual meeting.
