MarilynSaunders_inlineRACINE, Wis.—Marilyn N. Saunders, a pastor’s wife, died Nov. 18 at her home following an eight-year battle with cancer. She was 79.

Marilyn married Glenn E. Saunders on June 15, 1957, and for the first 25 years of marriage, they served in full-time pastoral ministries. They were pastor and wife in Hammond, Indiana; Harvey, Illinois; Russell, Iowa; and Racine, Wisconsin. Then Marilyn was a kindergarten teacher at Union Grove (Wisconsin) Christian School for 15 years and later worked as a secretary for her family’s business, Sound Specialty. She also taught piano lessons to youth and worked at Kohl’s department store.

Marilyn was a very active member of Union Grove (Wisonsin) Baptist Church, playing the organ, singing in the choir, directing Sunday School Christmas programs, serving as an Awana leader and secretary, and volunteering with its food bank.

She and Glenn traveled twice to Kenya to encourage their children and other missionaries in their work.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Glenn; their children, Joann, Jim, and Jeff; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at Union Grove (Wisconsin) Baptist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 10 a.m.–noon. The memorial service will follow, beginning at 12:30 p.m., with burial immediately afterward at the Union Grove Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her honor to Union Grove Baptist Church would be appreciated.
