KANSAS CITY, Kans.—Fair Haven Baptist Church held a special event during the evening of October 31st to impact its neighborhood and community during the city’s regular “Trick or Treating” hours. In response to the city’s event, the church held a special outreach project called “Trunk Or Treat,” which involved church members parking around the parameter of the church parking lot, decorating their cars, and handing out candy to neighborhood families who were trick or treating. Kids and parents received church information and gospel tracts, along with free hot dogs, soda pop, hot chocolate, a free moon bounce, and a free drawing for a boy’s and girl’s scooter. One of the cars set up a miniature remote control racetrack and helped advertise the church’s upcoming 2011 Vacation Bible School theme,  “Rev It Up, Full Throttle For God.”

With approximately 350-400 members of the community taking advantage of the family- safe, family-fun, family-friendly free event, the night became an excellent way for a church family of only 40 members to share the gospel and meet the community. Through the drawing for the scooters, the church now has the privilege of following up with approximately 150 children and potential future church families.
