CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa.—Community and business leaders from the greater Scranton region gathered together for a special time of fellowship at BBC&S during the fall 2010 President’s Breakfast. Speakers included BBC&S President Jim Jeffery and Amber Jacobs, the new women’s basketball coach and Assistant Athletic Director. Jacobs, who is a member of Heritage Baptist Church near campus, shared her thanks to the community for its support and involvement in her life and career, which included time as a star athlete at nearby Abington Heights High School. She attributed her motivation for success to Jesus Christ, her family, and her community. Speaking of her eagerness to have an impact in the lives of the students she leads, Jacobs described the importance of going beyond what is expected to achieve great things. In his presentation to the group, President Jeffery introduced the new Go Beyond logo and its significance for BBC&S, the surrounding community, and the global community. He also discussed key features that contribute to the success of students: Effective global Christian leadership, academic excellence, teachers who serve as mentors for life, a nurturing campus community, and real-life learning. Guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet and thank-you gifts. A folder of information about BBC&S was also provided to about 40 leaders who attended. The morning concluded with a tour of the new Kempton Athletic Center given by BBC&S Vice President for Business & Finance Hal Cross.
