“I never thought it would happen in our community.” “Things like this don’t happen here…I’m in complete shock.” We hear statements such as these in interviews after a shooting or a terrible crime has occurred. Often crime is viewed as a statistic until it hits close to home. Reality tells us that a perpetrator can strike at any moment. We must shake off complacency and be vigilant!
Because churches become targets of such attacks, it is critical for leaders to establish an action plan to best protect those in attendance. The GARBC Chaplaincy Ministries is helping churches think through the necessary steps to create and implement a plan. In the upcoming learning lab, chaplains and law enforcement officials will help us understand the big picture of safety and the detailed aspects of how to respond to crime. Be prepared to protect your church family or ministry organization by joining this Learning Lab.
