THE CHURCH AND CULTURE CONFERENCE
“The Spiritual Cost of Margin-less Living” with Dr. Richard Swensen will be presented on April 1 by the Wisconsin Association of Regular Baptist Churches and Calvary Baptist Church, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. This one-day conference is designed to explore the spiritual danger of embracing the prominent culture of margin-less living. As a physician, researcher, and futurist, Dr. Swensen’s current focus is “cultural medicine,” studying the intersection of health, culture, faith, and the future. He has written extensively on trends in modern society, including the acceleration of stress, overload, change, complexity, and speed. Click here to register.

REGULAR BAPTIST PRESS IS READY TO HELP YOUR TEACHERS
Alan Wilson, regional manager of Regular Baptist Press, travels to churches throughout the year to assist them with their educational and teacher training needs. This month Alan will be at two regional Regular Baptist conferences: the California Association of Regular Baptist Churches Annual Bible Conference at First Baptist Church of Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, California (April 4–6), and the Baptist Network Northwest Annual Conference at First Baptist Church, Richland, Washington (April 20–22). Evangelism is on the hearts of pastors. Two regional associations will be highlighting this mission at their conferences this spring. The Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches will feature “Workers Together for the Gospel” with Dr. Jim Tillotson April 10–11 at Faith Baptist Bible College. The Northeast Fellowship will present “Local Outreach Strategies” April 24 at Breesport Baptist Church in Breesport, New York. More than 20 individual workshops on church outreach strategies will be available.

DEVELOPING DISCERNMENT IN TODAY’S ISSUES
“Sticks, Stones, and Steaks: Discerning Decisions in Debatable Areas” will be the featured topic by Brian Trainer of Detroit Theological Seminary during the IL–MO spring conference. First Baptist Church, Arlington Heights, Illinois, will host the conference April 3–4. In addition, David Gunn, editorial director of publications for Regular Baptist Presswill speak on “Dispatches from the Theological Minefield,” concerning significant theological errors affecting the church today. Alex Bauman, director of educational resources for Regular Baptist Press, will give a presentation and be available for consultation.

BUILDING STRONG DISCIPLES
Making disciples is no easy task. The Nebraska Association of Regular Baptist Churches will emphasize the process of building and measuring mature disciples during its spring conference, April 7–8, at Gretna Baptist Church, Gretna, Nebraska. John Greening, GARBC national representative and author of Strong Church, will be the guest speaker. As an extension of the conference, the NARBC will be sponsoring a Stronger Church Conference, Oct. 6–7, in Nebraska City, offering three tracks of training: spiritual development, revitalization, and church planting.

ALPHA OMEGA CONFERENCE
Shasta Bible College and Graduate School will sponsor its 14th Annual Alpha Omega Conference April 4–9. The conference will include 12 speakers at nine locations, in addition to the host site of the Shasta campus. On Saturday morning, April 8, a Kids’ Creation Class will take place in Shasta’s chapel.

REGIONAL CONFERENCES OFFER FRIENDSHIP AND INSTRUCTION
April is a big month for Regular Baptist churches and fellowships to gather for conferences. Notice these upcoming events:

  • “Drawing Nearer: A Look at Eschatology” will be the theme of the CARBC Annual Bible Conference at First Baptist Community Church in Los Gatos, California, April 4–6. Dr. David Crandall will be the guest speaker.
  • “Vital Signs of a Healthy Church” will be the theme of the Mid-Continent ARBC Conference at Olivet Baptist Church in Westwood, Kansas, April 10–11. Rev. Bernie Augsburger, IL–MO state representative, will be the guest speaker.
  • “Refining Our Mission” will be the theme of the BNN Annual Ministry Conference at First Baptist Church in Richland, Washington, April 20–22. Dr. Tommy Thompson, World Help senior vice-president, will be the guest speaker.
