SCOTT CARROLL TO PRESENT SCROLLSScrolls4_inline AT GARBC CONFERENCE
“Inspired: Scrolls to Scriptures,” a portable, hands-on museum exhibit that tells the story of the composition and preservation of the Bible, will be featured at the 2016 GARBC Conference. This exhibit focuses on the Old Testament and the Jews who were entrusted with the oracles of God (Romans 3:2). Twenty-five extraordinary artifacts—including facsimiles of the Dead Sea Scrolls, papyri manuscripts, early codex leaves, and priceless Hebrew scrolls—tell the story. Engaging displays and hands-on elements will revitalize your commitment to the Bible and leave you inspired. Scott Carroll, noted research scholar and leading expert in the field of Biblical antiquities, will present a session on scrolls during the Thursday morning session, June 30, at the conference, hosted by Harvest New Beginnings, Oswego, Illinois.

The exhibit includes:
• Museum-quality facsimiles of Dead Sea Scrolls
• A rare Spanish Inquisition–era Torah
• One of less than 10 recorded Isaiah scrolls
• One-of-a-kind scrolls with gripping stories of how they survived the Nazi Holocaust
• A hands-on station with a scavenger hunt
• A station to try to copy Scripture

This preconference module on Tuesday, June 28, 2:00–5:00 p.m., will establish an excellent framework for the conference theme, “And Beginning with Moses . . . Proclaiming Christ from the Old Testament.” Mathewson, author of The Art of Preaching Old Testament Narrative and Joshua and Judges: A Bible Commentary for Every Day, will help participants strengthen their skills in the Word. An invitation from Ken Davis, chairman of Baptist Mid-Missions’ church planting council and director of Project Jerusalem:

Are you a church planter who has not had much practical training in how to actually launch a new church? Or are you prayerfully considering being a church planter? Perhaps you’re a pastor or church leader desiring to lead your church to birth a daughter church, or you have been called to revitalize a dying church. Join us at our annual School of Church Planting, June 13–16, in Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, hosted by Bible Baptist Church. Roger McNamara and I will coteach “Launching Healthy Churches That Grow,” covering the crucial conception, prenatal, and birthing stages of a church-planting life cycle. The packed three days include 27 sixty-minute teaching sessions, a comprehensive church planter’s manual, and a free thumb drive with extra planting resources. There’s time for lots of peer interaction and sharing during the daily scheduled breaks and church-provided meals. The host church provides lodging for registrants requesting it. Seminary credit is available from Baptist Bible Seminary. To learn more or to register, visit BMM School of Church Planting. Questions? Call Ken Davis, 570.585.9269, or Roger McNamara, 540.604.1838.
